About Us
Our Firm
Resolution Economics was founded in 1998 in Los Angeles,
California by a group of professionals who trace their
roots back to the Dispute Analysis and Corporate
Recovery Group at Price Waterhouse LLP. Since the
firm’s inception, Resolution Economics has grown to
include over 60 professionals working in offices located
in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago. In
addition to its dedicated staff, Resolution Economics
has relationships with academic affiliates with who
bring significant in-depth knowledge related to
particular industries and issues.
The firm’s formula for success has been to match
outstanding qualifications, deep experience, and
exceptional technical ability with creative problem
solving skills in order to develop innovative solutions
to complex problems. The combination of high quality
work product and excellent communication skills has led
to a track record of highly effective trial
presentations. This formula has led to Resolution
Economics assuming a leading role in providing highly
credentialed and seasoned experts focused on providing
services related to employment
litigation, healthcare litigation, mass-tort litigation, insurance coverage
litigation, and other matters requiring analysis of
large-scale complex data.
The firm’s focus on large-scale, data intensive cases
with complex issues is evidenced by the nature of its
work. Resolution Economics’ professionals have
been involved in several hundred class-action lawsuits.
Common threads to these projects are that they typically
have significant economic exposure, and require
significant expertise in data management, statistical
sampling, and econometric modeling. Given the size
and complexity of these matters, the firm routinely
handles large (millions of records) datasets to
extremely large (billions of records) datasets, which
are housed in our data lab in Los Angeles.
Although physically located in California and Illinois,
the firm’s practice is national in scope. A
majority of the work performed by California based
professionals is related to projects venued outside of
California. A majority of their work is on matters
which are national or multi-state in scope.
Resources
Our team is comprised of professionals with advanced
degrees and certifications including PhDs, MBAs, CPAs,
MAs, MSs, CFEs, and MHSAs who have backgrounds in
economics, information technology,
management, government regulation and investigation, and
academia. Our experts are some of the leading
authorities on consulting litigation.
The firm’s general focus on providing services related
to complex data intensive litigation results in almost
all team members having a programming background in
addition to their other qualifications and experience.
Our electronic infrastructure also reflects this focus.
We utilize advanced analytical software, secure networks
with extremely large storage capacity, and high powered
computing to process large quantities of data. With our
extensive electronic infrastructure, we are able to deal
with datasets of any size from data where the records
number in the thousands to data where the records number
in the billions.
For each engagement, we assemble a team of experts and
professionals with the appropriate skills and expertise
to meet the specific needs of our client and the
requirements of the engagement. Each engagement is
staffed to ensure that work is assigned to the
appropriate level of experience in order to provide the
most cost-efficient solution.
Our team members are experienced litigation consultants.
They understand that the nature of the business is that
sometimes we are required to assemble teams of highly
qualified professionals in order to advise clients
working under tight deadlines. Our team members
understand the necessity of being flexible in order to
meet the client’s time requirements.
Engagement Approach
Resolution Economics goal is to provide high quality,
cost-effective expert consulting services. To meet
these goals, our professionals approach each engagement
with a focus on client service, cost management, and
independence. Effective project management
requires a thorough understanding of the client’s issues
and organization. To ensure maximum efficiency, our
senior managers work closely with the client
in the early stages of the engagement in order to
develop an understanding of our client’s organization
and the specific challenges it faces.
Resolution Economics professionals are accustomed to
working in teams and with client staff. Our managers are
vigilant to communicate with the client frequently to
keep them informed of our progress. Generally, our
engagements are performed in phases. The first phase is
typically a fact-finding exercise through which we
become familiar with the organization and its
components. This involves meeting with client
management, counsel, auditors and reviewing relevant
documents such as financial statements and policies and
procedures. Next, we consult with the client to
determine the most appropriate course of action. It has
been our experience that including clients in these
early planning phases is of critical importance. The
subsequent phases involve performing more detailed and
focused reviews of documents and processes. Once this
has been completed, we typically begin collating the
information into a report format. Prior to finalizing
any deliverables, we meet with the client to share our
preliminary findings. Throughout this process, we are
diligent in our efforts to maintain the security and
confidentiality of our clients and the information
obtained throughout the course of the engagement.
Summary
Regardless of the management approach we take,
our clients can expect frequent communication and
updates regarding the progress of our work. Furthermore,
Resolution Economics is flexible in the staffing of our
engagement teams. Whether the client needs technical
expertise or management advisory services, Resolution
Economics will staff the appropriate professionals for
the work.
