Professor Dietrich is an expert on financial institutions, credit and other financial markets and corporate finance. He has published articles and lectured widely on financial markets and factors affecting firm and financial asset risks. In particular, Professor Dietrich has authored several articles assessing the determinants of mortgage default and critical issues raised by creative home financing. His most current research includes policy background papers for international organizations on the recent credit market crises. Professor Dietrich regularly teaches courses on credit-risk management, including the use and valuation of credit derivatives like credit-default swaps. Professor Dietrich has been active in lecturing and teaching financial market regulators and financial firm managers on risk-management models and techniques.
Professor Dietrich has significant experience as a consulting and testifying expert on financial markets, including working with the Department of the Treasury during the Stock Market Crisis in 1987 and 1988. He also worked extensively on litigation matters during the U.S. Savings and Loan crisis during the 1980s and 1990s. He has provided deposition and trial testimony on valuation, financial transactions, business strategy, and other issues in litigation involving financial firms. Professor Dietrich’s consulting experience includes work involving sub-prime lenders and aspects of financing particular to sub-prime lending.
